-Plot and Timeline at Kivahr-
It's the ninth pass on the planet of Pern. As intertwined as the many aspects of life on this planet are, for once there is a feeling of total dedication to each part. The Weyrs, Holds and Crafthalls feel a sense of duty, save for the few (such as Master Norist) who feel as if they've been put at odds. The source of the sudden intense feelings? AIVAS. An "Artificial Intelligence Voice Address System." The newly found machine has made a promise to show Pern's leaders how to forever rid their planet of the threat known as thread. Over a period of four turns and so many days, the plan that AIVAS has been aiding Pern's people in comes to action. Dragonriders are sent carrying explosives to the Red Star itself in an attempt to rock the planet out of its course.
The dragonriders fail.
On the long trip between, three dragons get lost and are gone. Immediately upon arrival at the Red Star, several more riders and dragons go forever into the cold of between, panicked by the sudden loss of their peers. The explosives are thrown haphazardly at the planet, rather than placed in the correct spot. By the time the remaining dragonriders arrive back in the familiar atmosphere of their beloved home, the damage has been done. The Red Star was moved -- but not far enough to stop thread forever. Truth be told, thread now falls slightly more frequently. For a time, a sense of overwhelming loss and failure overcomes the planet -- and with AIVAS and the beloved Master Harper both gone, there is little to bring things back to normal.
Turns pass. Thread continues to fall. Riders continue to go about their lives as they did in the beginning, with the exception of the few technologies gained before the self-termination of AIVAS.
And here we are today, at Kivahr Weyr. Founded some time around the middle of the tenth pass, Kivahr was begun shortly after Honshu's completion. Located in the cliff walls of the most inland part of Paradise River, Kivahr is a temperate Weyr built out of what was originally a series of deep caves and caverns. Kivahr Hold is further downriver in a valley, not quite close enough to make the site a Weyrhold, but close enough to reach on foot.
Kivahr Weyr was founded by a goldrider named Siyelle and her gold Venath when the other Weyrs began to get overcrowded. The Weyr was quickly filled out and exapanded to include everything it needed, and shortly afterwards, Kivahr Hold was built nearby. Currently, Sr. Weyrwoman Hiyera is in charge, with Sabie as her single Jr. Weyrwoman. There is not currently a Weyrleader, unfortunately.
And thus ends the plot, so far, for Kivahr Weyr.
