-What Makes Kivahr Different?-

Faranth only knows how many Pern roleplays there are out there anymore. It's almost impossible to tell which ones will last or suit your tastes, and many of them are basically the same. Kivahr strives to break the mold. The main emphasis here is to get involved. In truth, you have no choice. You don't get to choose your rank. If you did, nobody would ever try out the crafthalls or the hold, and you probably wouldn't ever put much thought into it. We don't have basic ranks like "Weyrfolk" here, because that doesn't give you anything to do. We give you ranks with things to do. And we have mini-plots. Mini-plots that earn you higher ranks, such as candidacy. There are great rewards to be reaped from creating and roleplaying in plots and mini-plots, and consequences for constantly abandoning them. And we don't like seeing more than 2 threads on any given board with no replies. In short, the only way to "survive" Kivahr is to get yourself involved. There's nothing else you can do.

We realize that our rather forceful way of getting people involved will probably scare some members away. We accept that fact. Why? Because those who do stay will probably want to stay for a long time. If you let go of whatever discomfort you have for roleplaying Pern and open your mind enough to realize that you simply cannot start out as a candidate, we think you'll find that this site offers a view of Pern that no other site does. A chance to actually experience the things that really would happen on Pern, and not just hatchings, flights and searches. You will get to try roleplaying a craft. A treasure hunt. A murder mystery. You'll find yourself involved in the news -- perhaps even mentioned in the monthly news letter. You'll find yourself more interested in the content of your post rather than the wording. You'll find yourself feeling like you are actually roleplaying out the way life on Pern would be, instead of going through the motions of impressing, training and then leaving a site. And who knows -- you might find yourself entranced.

Kivahr is not just a Pern Weyr site. Kivahr is a Pern roleplay. Some people will hate us. Most others will probably love us. Which type of person you are is up to you. And, because we've had some confusion, here is an OOC rundown as well. For one, the administrative trio works together. Don't ask one of us a question because you dislike the answer the other gave you. Trust me; we're aware not only that you've already asked, but also what answer was given and should have been given. Second, this is not a friendly place for those who don't like to pay attention. We admins are fine with answering questions, but you better have read our pages first -- we become very, very unhappy people when we find ourselves constantly pointing people to pages. And finally, we DO stand by our rules and policies. They aren't there for show. Nobody gets around them. :) Just wanted to make these things clear.
